Maya and Pax continued their exploration, hoping to uncover more clues about the platinum and gold workshops.
Pax, sosteniendo la concha Spondylus, preguntó, “¿Crees que encontraremos tesoros escondidos, Maya?”
Pax, holding the Spondylus shell, asked, “Do you think we’ll find hidden treasures, Maya?”
Maya sonrió. “Quizás. Pero los verdaderos tesoros son el conocimiento y la historia, ¿no crees?”
Maya smiled. “Perhaps. But the real treasures are knowledge and history, don’t you think?”
De repente, llegaron a una cámara iluminada por extrañas luces brillantes. En el centro, había tres máscaras doradas. Cada una era diferente, con intrincados diseños.
Suddenly, they arrived at a chamber lit by strange, glowing lights. In the center, there were three golden masks. Each one was different, with intricate designs.
Una voz resonó en la cámara. “Para pasar, deben responder mis preguntas sobre las máscaras.”
A voice echoed through the chamber. “To pass, you must answer my questions about the masks.”
Maya se adelantó. “Estamos listos.”
Maya stepped forward. “We are ready.”
La voz continuó: “Máscara uno: ¿Qué cultura precolombina de Ecuador es famosa por su orfebrería, especialmente el uso de oro y platino?”
The voice continued: “Mask one: Which pre-Columbian culture of Ecuador is famous for its goldwork, especially the use of gold and platinum?”
Pax murmuró, “¡Uy! Esa es difícil…”
Pax murmured, “¡Uy! That’s a tough one…”
Maya pensó un momento. “Creo que es la cultura La Tolita.”
Maya thought for a moment. “I believe it is the La Tolita culture.”
La voz respondió: “Correcto. Máscara dos: ¿Qué técnica utilizaban para crear objetos tan detallados?”
The voice responded: “Correct. Mask two: What technique did they use to create such detailed objects?”
Maya respondió: “Utilizaban la técnica de la cera perdida.”
Maya responded: “They used the lost-wax casting technique.”
La voz respondió: “Correcto. Máscara tres: ¿Qué significaban estas máscaras en su cultura?”
The voice responded: “Correct. Mask three: What did these masks signify in their culture?”
Pax exclamó, “¡Chévere! Creo que lo sé. ¡Representaban a sus dioses y ancestros!”
Pax exclaimed, “¡Chévere! I think I know. They represented their gods and ancestors!”
La voz resonó por última vez. “Correcto. Pueden pasar.” Las luces se atenuaron y una puerta se abrió al final de la cámara.
The voice echoed one last time. “Correct. You may pass.” The lights dimmed, and a door opened at the end of the chamber.
Maya y Pax se miraron, sonriendo. “¡De una! Sigamos,” dijo Pax, listo para la siguiente aventura.
Maya and Pax looked at each other, smiling. “¡De una! Let’s continue,” said Pax, ready for the next adventure.
