Maya sonrió, “¡Pax, chévere que entiendes la leyenda! Ahora, vamos a descubrir a los primeros héroes: los navegantes.”
Maya smiled, “Pax, it’s great that you understand the legend! Now, let’s discover the first heroes: the navigators.”
Pax brincó. “¿Navegantes? ¿Más chéveres que los gigantes? ¡De una!”
Pax jumped. “Navigators? More awesome than the giants? Let’s go!”
Maya desplegó un mapa antiguo. “Hace miles de años, antes de que existieran las carreteras, la gente viajaba por el mar. Imagínate, Pax, ¡todo este océano!”
Maya unfolded an ancient map. “Thousands of years ago, before roads existed, people traveled by sea. Imagine, Pax, all this ocean!”
“¡Guau! ¡Como un inmenso charco!” exclamó Pax, sujetando la concha Spondylus.
“Wow! Like a giant puddle!” exclaimed Pax, holding the Spondylus shell.
Maya asintió. “Exacto. Y los primeros navegantes de estas tierras, de lo que hoy es Ecuador, fueron increíblemente valientes. Construyeron balsas de madera balsa, ¡tan ligeras que flotaban como plumas!”
Maya nodded. “Exactly. And the first navigators of these lands, of what is now Ecuador, were incredibly brave. They built rafts of balsa wood, so light that they floated like feathers!”
Pax frunció el ceño. “¿Balsas? ¿Como las que hace mi abuelo? ¡Pero él solo pesca!”
Pax frowned. “Rafts? Like the ones my grandfather makes? But he only fishes!”
“¡Mucho más que eso!” Maya respondió. “Estos navegantes no solo pescaban. ¡Comerciaban con otras culturas! Iban hasta México y Perú en sus balsas. Llevaban conchas Spondylus, telas, y otros tesoros.”
“Much more than that!” Maya replied. “These navigators didn’t just fish. They traded with other cultures! They went all the way to Mexico and Peru in their rafts. They carried Spondylus shells, fabrics, and other treasures.”
Pax abrió mucho los ojos. “¿En serio? ¿Mi concha Spondylus viajó hasta México? ¡Qué bacán!”
Pax’s eyes widened. “Really? My Spondylus shell traveled all the way to Mexico? How cool!”
Maya sonrió. “Así es, Pax. Los navegantes usaban las corrientes marinas y las estrellas para guiarse. Eran expertos en astronomía y en el mar. ¡Verdaderos héroes! Pensa en ellos como los UPS o Servientrega del pasado.”
Maya smiled. “That’s right, Pax. The navigators used ocean currents and stars to guide themselves. They were experts in astronomy and the sea. True heroes! Think of them as the UPS or Servientrega of the past.”
Pax reflexionó. “¡Qué chévere! Tal vez mi *guagua* también será un gran navegante algún día. Podrá llevar la concha Spondylus a lugares lejanos.”
Pax pondered. “How cool! Maybe my baby brother will also be a great navigator someday. He can carry the Spondylus shell to faraway places.”
Maya rió. “¡Quién sabe! Pero recuerda, Pax, la valentía, el conocimiento y el respeto por la naturaleza son las verdaderas herramientas de un navegante.”
Maya laughed. “Who knows! But remember, Pax, courage, knowledge, and respect for nature are the true tools of a navigator.”
